I am excited to share with you all that I have been given the opportunity to review the Caring Crate subscription box! Caring Crate is a box specifically designed for self care. It’s fantastic for anyone struggling with chronic illness, mental health concerns, or anyone who just need a little extra self care.
It still amazes me that I have grown as a blogger and that people are willing to give me free stuff so that I can review it! This process has been so fun. I hope the review is helpful for you! Here’s a sneak peek of the box:
Let’s see what’s inside!
Lo & Behold Rose & Ginger Hand Salve
Every ingredient in this salve is natural, including rice brain oil, coconut oil, beeswax, olive oil, vitamin E, fair trade shea butter, and rose petals. And if that wasn’t enough, it also includes essential oils of rose, ylang ylang, sweet orange, and ginger. The salve can work as a hand cream or lip balm. Should I be telling you to put it on your lips? No idea, but I did and it worked great. And since everything is natural, organic, and most edible, I’m sure it’s fine. The box offers a sample size, which retails for $6.50USD. Lo & Behold also has a full size salve that retails for $15 USD.
Kis.Met Flower Child Floral Mist Spray (Rose + Peppermint)
Wow this smells lovely! It can be used as a facial toner, body mist, or a room spray. I LOVE that it’s 100% natural, just rose water, peppermint water, witch hazel, and coconut oil, and safe enough to use on my face! The scent is wonderfully refreshing and relaxing. This one is a full size product, which is awesome! It retails for $19 Canadian, which is about $14.65 for those of us in the US.
With Love DIY Wood Coaster Kit
This kit comes with everything you need to make 4 adorable wood coasters. Living in Colorado, these mountain-chic coasters are 100% up my alley. And DIY crafting is one of the most rejuvenating ways I practice self care. I think nurturing creativity is vital for everyone’s self care! The kit comes with an access code to give you step by step instructions. The kit retails for $18 Canadian.
Zimt Chocolates Peppermint Nib’d
This delectable bar is handcrafted in Vancouver and made with organic and vegan cacao nibs, cocoa butter, and coconut sugar. With 8g of sugar and less than 200 calories in the entire bar, it’s a great way to treat yo self! This one also has peppermint in it, the flavor of which is quite strong, which can be good or bad depending on your preferences. If you want vegan, dairy free chocolate, this is it! I will be honest… vegan, dairy free chocolate isn’t my kind of chocolate. The bar tasted a little dry and, well, dairy free to me. It lacks the rich creaminess of traditional chocolate. The bar is not particularly sweet either, but it’s 80% cacao dark chocolate, so this should be expected! The minimal sweetness will definitely be a positive factor to those watching their sugar intake or who just prefer the taste. If being able to indulge in a little chocolate while still following a vegan diet is important to you, then these are definitely worth a try. These retail for $5 a bar, or $30 for a 6-pack.
Subscription Options & My Overall Review
The Caring Crate monthly subscription is $40 Canadian (about $30.81 USD), and they offer longer subscriptions: 3 months for $116 CAD ($89.53 USD) and 6 months for $225 CAD ($173.66 USD). In US dollars, the 3 month price really doesn’t differ from buying each box monthly, and the 6 month box only gives you a $7 discount. So my opinion? Try out the monthly box first!
I really love how Caring Crate is tailored to holistic self care: body care, a sweet snack, and a way to unleash your creative DIY side. Even the scents, such as rose and peppermint, offer specific self care benefits for relaxation, clarity, and even headache relief.
Although the salve was a sample size, the other 3 products were all full-size, which adds extra value to the box. And the products in the box retail for approximately $50 USD, so getting them in the Crate is definitely a discount! While I have received boxes that are overall a better value when judging by price of box vs. retail price of all items inside, I love how carefully sourced this box is and that it is a small business. Caring Crate also works with several small Canadian businesses, and I love that they support businesses local to them! I also think Caring Crate is already on the right track for providing the best value for their subscribers, so I think we’ll continue to see improvements!
